Charity operations dashboard
A browser-based system for an animal-welfare organisation. It connects operational records, financial document imports, volunteer training and branded social content to the services the team already uses.
Everyday admin, documents and content in one workspace.
The work involves several kinds of input: statements, payment slips, written reports, photos and videos. Each needs to end up in a useful place, without asking the team to manage several separate technical tools.
- 01Upload or enter information
- 02Parse, process & review
- 03Connected records & usable content
What I built
Financial document imports
Staff upload bank statements or payment-slip images. The system parses or extracts the relevant fields and writes records to connected Google Sheets, with backup copies.
Records & training
The dashboard includes patient records and an editable volunteer quiz. Staff can change questions and review submitted answers from the same workspace.
Photos into usable content
Uploaded photos and videos can become branded story images and captioned reels. Captions are editable, and separate brand settings keep content organised.
Built for the way the team works
The interface opens on a laptop or phone. Staff start tasks from the dashboard; finished images and videos can be reviewed and downloaded.
What this delivers
Staff can start these different tasks from a single browser interface while continuing to use their connected records. The system is in use and has been refined through feedback from its user. The workflow remains staff-operated; it is not presented as unattended automation.
The technical side
The main components and the decisions behind them.
- Web application
- A Node.js service on Google Cloud Run serves the dashboard and processing APIs.
- Connected storage
- Google Sheets holds connected records; Cloud Storage holds media, backups and persisted application state.
- Document & media processing
- CSV parsing and text rules handle structured inputs. AI is used for image reading and selected captions; FFmpeg produces captioned video output.
- Access & uploads
- Login, rate limiting and controlled maintenance access sit alongside signed uploads for large media files.
What could this look like for your business?
A similar approach can bring customer records, forms, uploaded documents, staff training or content production into one place. The right starting point is the task your team repeats, rather than a long list of possible features.
We can start with a conversation.
You don't need a technical brief. Tell me what you want to make easier, who will use it and what you use now. I'll help work out what needs building.
